super ccatch is the kind of game your mom wouldn't want you to play. By the time I'd finished trying it out for this review my heart was pounding, my ears were ringing, and my finger felt like it was about to bleed. But man, what a rush!

So what's the big deal?

super ccatch is kind of a cosmic version of Breakout, where you control a colored paddle and must catch falling shapes of the same color, while avoiding shapes that aren't the same color. You're allowed to miss shapes of your color, but if you land more than two other colored shapes it's game over.

OK, so this sounds sedate and harmless, right? The thing is, you have to imagine all this happening at breakneck speed with an incessant dubstep soundtrack thumping out in the background.

super ccatch throws you into a trance-like state that's hard to get out of. The bassy chiptunes, the flashing neon and the stream of falling blocks are so enticing that you'll keep swiping that paddle until you get friction burns!

The scoring system in super ccatch is very simple. You are awarded one point per shape caught, and this is multiplied by the level you reach. Levels progress based on the time you stay alive. There are extra lives available to collect by catching them.

There's just one game mode in super ccatch but it includes Game Center support, so you can compete for challenges and test yourself against other players online.

Easy to play

Unlike many of today's mobile games, there's no tutorial or demo in super ccatch, but it doesn't really need one. All you do is hold down the screen and slide your finger across to move the paddle. A very faint block runs up the screen from the width of the paddle to give you a visual guide.

Super sonics

super ccatch would be nothing without its firey techno music soundtrack. The music can put you under its spell and really draw you into the game.The tunes are so good that you'll want to have the headphones up full. Try to resist though, as this could damage your hearing, even if temporarily.

Visually, super ccatch oozes retro, with blocky graphics and striking neon colors. The backgrounds don't change at all as you progress up the levels though, which would add some visual variety to the game.

Insanely ccatchy

I feel like I shouldn't really be condoning the use of super ccatch since it seems to have the potential to cause damage to your eyes, ears, mind, and body. However, the game has such a grip over me that I'd be lying if I said you won't enjoy it. You'll love it. Just be careful, and try the best to play responsibly!
