In chess, players control a set of 28 points or "pieces" that are arranged on a 8×8 board. Players move their pieces and place them on the board in order to attack and defend opponents’ pieces. The object is to take your opponent's king or "queen" by attacking the opponent's "king" or "queen" pieces. By attacking the opponent's pieces, you eliminate them and move your own pieces to the next "home" square. You can only move a single piece per turn.

When you play, the pieces move according to a pattern that is made up of the various possible moves. Some of the pieces are more valuable than others and are worth more points when they reach the end of the game, but, most importantly, the king is the most valuable piece.

Once you have captured the opponent's king, you are declared the winner. If you manage to take your opponent's king before the opponent captures yours, you have won.

Your goal is to win the game before your opponent or they get to their last piece.
