Cevşen-i Kebir Duası is a prayer that was brought to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by the angel Gabriel during the Battle of Uhud. Gabriel instructed the Prophet to remove his armor and recite this prayer, stating that its impact is greater than any protection provided by physical armor. When the Prophet asked if the prayer's effect was only for himself or if it extended to the entire Muslim community, Gabriel replied, "O Messenger of Allah, this prayer is a gift from Allah to you and your Ummah. Only Allah can determine its reward."

Cevşen-i Kebir Duası consists of 100 sections, each containing 10 verses that describe Allah's names and attributes. At the end of each section, there is a prayer seeking refuge in Allah from weakness, partners, and the fires of Hell (We seek refuge in You from all imperfections, weakness, and partners. There is no deity except You; grant us assistance. We seek protection). The prayer emphasizes the repetition of Allah's names and attributes and the turning towards Him with those names. Seeking refuge in Allah from fire and punishment also holds significant importance in Cevşen-i Kebir.
