Ever since the dawn of computer gaming, point-and-click action games have been around. It's their basic existence that demands less hardware in general. The versatility also makes it impossible to not blur into another genre on gaming ideas. Butterfly Collector does not stray far in terms of gameplay from a typical point-and-click game. However, there are some odd locations in the plot, and the voice acting and characters offer ample justification to complete more than an hour-long experience.

What are point-and-click games?

Point-and-click games adopt a type of role-playing game that normally does not require active combat. In essence, players do not go through levels and battle against opponents. The Butterfly Collector is a point-and-click adventure game inspired by escape rooms, myst, and fantastical gardens. You will play as a mutant butterfly finding a way to repair her torn wings. The graphics are a series of scenes that are mainly static with a few slightly shifting animations. 

To make you speak with a character or know more about an item, you need to click on it. Things you find can be mixed or used on items around the world in your store. The game is standard point-and-click fare in that sense. The surreal characters give the world some fun color, especially because not all the characters are weird. With point-and-click puzzles, the tale is fun enough to bear some of the usual irritation.

More advanced players are generally going to have a smoother time with the game. The answers tend to be out of the ordinary or perhaps nonsensical, even for a puzzle. The trick is to continue to play and realize what the game wants from its players. There are hints everywhere and the game does a decent job of telling you the stuff you can play with. You just need to keep your eyes open.

Time to take flight 

As far as gameplay is concerned, Butterfly Collector is a relatively ordinary point-and-click adventure game that brings nothing new to the genre. There's nothing unique about the puzzles being featured here, but it does have a great art style and a rather convincing plot. This might be an interesting few hours if you like the genre, but it won't stand out.
