Boons & Burdens is a premium action game for PC developed by FromLefcourt. This retro roguelike adventure is set in the depths of hell, wherein players take on the role of powerful wizards. They will go through waves of demonic creatures and prove their mettle as the most powerful sorcerers ever.

Much like Heretic's Fork and Halls of Torment, Boons & Burdens is still in active development and features supernatural themes for its story and gameplay. There are multiple character classes and various spells to choose from. It also employs a unique system that changes the difficulty in different ways.

Boons & Burdens takes place in the infernal depths of a hellish dimension, where you play as a wizard battling through waves of demonic creatures. Prove your worth by fighting through nine increasingly unique levels, collecting boons in the form of magical items, and choosing from more than 130 talents as you progress and level up to increase your power.

The highlight element of this game is its unique system for handling difficulty. It employs what's called Burdens, which you will need to choose from. Depending on your choice, the gameplay transforms in various ways, like a slow, constant drain to your health, reduced value for items you pick up, and various handicaps that put your skills to the test.

The game also has integration with Steam Achievements, with 20 goals to work towards and achieve. While the game remains in active development, its impending release in Early Access means that players should anticipate an incomplete experience initially. As developers refine and expand upon its features, the game will evolve, gradually offering a more comprehensive gameplay experience. Despite that, there's already plenty to like about it, even in its current state.
