Black Future '88 is a 2D action shooter game that takes place in a unique retro cyberpunk dystopia. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a nuclear cataclysm caused by the tower architect, Duncan, has blacked out the sun with endless rain. The objective of the game is to climb a procedurally generated tower to reach the top and kill Duncan before your heart explodes.

The game features five distinct zones, each with its own set of challenges, where you fight your way through an ever-evolving tower with traps, homicidal AI, crazed junkies, and colossal Wardens. You can play as one of the five playable characters, each with their own unique buffs and weaknesses. The game also features couch co-op, allowing you to test your wits and reflexes with a friend. There are 50 unique weapons available, each with their own unique effects, and you can strategically choose and combine from 30 distinct buffs and curses to boost or curse yourself to survive. Additionally, every day a new challenge is generated with unique attributes, allowing you to see how your skills compare against other players in a global leaderboard. The game also boasts an all-killer original analog-synth soundtrack performed by Tremor Low.
