Blacklight: Retribution
Intense Action in Blacklight: Retribution
Team-Based Battles
Battle Carnival is a team-based multiplayer shooter created by Zepetto which features online multiplayer battles with a deep emphasis on teamwork. It has a wide cast of playable characters with each character playing a unique role for the team. This action game is a non-pay to win mechanics, allowing anyone to play.
Battle Carnival takes its inspiration from team-based shooters such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2. It has fast-paced battles combined with diverse character classes. Each character possesses unique skills to distinguish other playable characters. Their skills will be valuable for different scenarios. Some of the character-specific skills are barricade building, enemy targeting, area-of-effect healing, C4 planting, and invisibility. There is also a cinematic mode where it shows the killing shot against the opponent. The game encourages players to work together as a team. A better team knows how to communicate and coordinate attacks.
One of the most prominent features of Battle Carnival is its mediocrity. The game lacks content that even the supposedly diverse characters lack any charisma or likeability. The characters do not have any interesting backstory, and their in-game quotes sound very awkward as they “speak” while using their skills. Players may also notice that some characters resemble more popular FPS characters from games like Overwatch.
Battle Carnival also has the reputation of repeating the game soundtrack, which could get boring over time. The game has only a few game modes, namely Attack and Defend, Bomb Defusal, and Capture the Hill. These game modes lack innovation and instead follows the safe and recognizable shooter formula. The only redeeming feature of this game is its free-to-play status. There are no purchases required to play the game. All characters are unlocked, but there are no alternate skins, emotes, or sprays.
Battle Carnival is just a run on the mill, team-based shooter. It tries to catch up with the more popular, team-based shooters. The oversaturation of the team-based shooter genre makes this game not outstanding at all. It lacks personality, cohesive gameplay, and everything else. If only the game tries something innovative or out of the box, then it will gain the deserving attention. But for now, it stays very stale and uninteresting.
