Residentvania: Ocuma is Not a Game of Evil
A farming simulator with roguelite elements
Atomicrops is a premium action game for PC by developer Bird Bath Games. It is a farming simulator with unique roguelite elements in its core gameplay. In it, players will need to defend the last farm left in a post-apocalyptic wasteland with the help of mutated crops.
Combining the look and design of Stardew Valley with the fast-paced action of Enter the Gungeon, Atomicrops is a bullet hell farming simulator that is just as intriguing to experience as it sounds. Players will need to fend off mutated creatures and earn profit harvesting crops, looking for their soulmate.
In Atomicrops, you've grown weary of modern city life. It just so happens that you've inherited a farm from your late uncle, and you now pack your bags to go live a simpler life. Then, a nuclear disaster happens, and you end up owning the last healthy piece of land capable of growing food. Thus, begins your new not-so-simple life in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Sell harvested crops for cashews, the game's main currency. Be mindful of the now mutated creatures around you as they too are interested in your produce. Defend against your intruders with a variety of upgradable weapons. You will basically be switching between farming duties during the day and mutant slaying come nightfall. Survive and welcome each season with specialty shops that carry unique items and other rewards.
Love is still in the toxic air in this game, and you're in search of your soulmate, and growing roses will help. Gift this flower to a potential love interest that can lead to marriage if you're lucky. The challenge ramps up rather quickly, so you might encounter a steep difficulty curve, but this is already par for the course with these types of games.
Atomicrops is a mix of two polarizing game genres, yet the result surprisingly works. What you get is simple and relaxing gameplay one moment, and chaotic bullet hell action the next. It's something that not a lot of other titles have done before, and that alone is reason enough to give it a shot. It's fun, challenging, and different. Recommended.
