Tower defense hybrid action PC game
Artificial Extraction 2 is a premium action game for PC developed by 100Hr Games Inc. It is the sequel to the original Artificial Extraction hybrid tower defense shooter, wherein players must defend against waves of AI-controlled enemies. There’s a diverse set of units to utilize and deploy onto the battlefield to deal with different situations.
Building upon the original Artificial Extraction game, the sequel Artificial Extraction 2 lets players jump between two gameplay modes in real-time. One enables them to come up with strategies on the fly, while the other thrusts them straight into the action as part of the frontline defense.
AI machine overlords
Artificial Extraction 2 takes place in a near-future post-apocalyptic world where Earth is under the hostile, oppressive rule of its AI overlords. You play as a sentient AI commander who is against your digital brethren, and you’re on a mission to steal critical data from them. However, decryption takes time, and you will need to hold your ground against waves of enemies until you succeed and are extracted by your mother ship.
As mentioned earlier, there are two ways to experience the gameplay in this sequel across its 10 handcrafted levels based on your preference. If you want a more tactical approach and plan your defense on solid unit placement and utilization, you can enter the RTS Command View. Conversely, if you want to be part of the action and be all boots-on-the-ground, you can opt for FPS Mode.
There’s a base-building element in the sense that you need to gather resources to build and create a defense formation with your units to deal with different enemies, and there’s an extensive tech tree for upgrades and new turrets and weapons. You can even call in air support and long-range artillery. All that said, the experience is still rough around the edges and needs refinements with turret management and better balancing.
A solid sequel
All in all, Artificial Extration 2 is a good sequel to the original game that build upon its foundation with solid, engaging gameplay, and a new RTS Mode for a more tactical depth. You can choose between its two modes based on how you want to experience the action. It still needs some work, but the potential is there. Check it out and see for yourself.
