Aliens: Fireteam Elite Pathogen is a premium expansion for Aliens: Fireteam Elite, an action RPG in which the player takes on the role of special operatives exploring a mystery planet full of hostile aliens. The game is a cooperative experience that can be played with both AI and other players.

The core game’s cooperative experience can be likened to games similar to Left 4 Dead 2. However, the theme of the game makes it somewhat more comparable to GTFO. This expansion adds new content to that core game, including missions and weapons.

Fight aliens again

The base game puts the player on an unexplored planet with a few fellow Fireteam members and a host of hostile enemies to fight. Aliens: Fireteam Elite Pathogen adds more enemies, maps, weapons, accessories, and a new campaign with 3 new missions to complete. Overall, the expansion adds around an hour of additional gameplay to the base game.

Mutating aliens and local wildlife

The story of the expansion details how a mysterious pathogen is mutating both the hostile aliens (Xenopmorphs) and other local wildlife, causing them to be more dangerous and aggressive towards the players. The player and their team must fight their way through many enemies to uncover the source of the pathogen.

A good but short expansion

Aliens: Fireteam Elite Pathogen expands on the original game nicely, adding missions and other content that complements the original game and fits in with the core story and gameplay. The only drawback is the amount of content, as many players feel it does not provide enough for the cost of the expansion.
