It gives more than 200 hours of strategic gameplay with various human empires while spanning over a century of human history. Combining all expansion packs will have 25 civilizations. This includes 18 base civilizations,  five extra countries, African kingdoms, and Indian empires. 

The real-time strategy game upscales the graphics with 4K Ultra HD resolution. However, it only works with high performing computers. It has fluid animations and smoother edges compared to the original game that used 2D graphics. The game also overhauled the artificial intelligence to be fair with the beginners. Players can hover over their buildings and check their progress status or see if they are being used. There is also an option to revert back in classic rules and settings.

The game still hosts online multiplayer mode. Everybody can challenge each other with the game’s 35 different civilizations. They have to go through the ages as fast as possible while building strongholds and raising massive armies. This game features new content called The Last Khans.
