Achilles: Survivor is a premium action game for PC developed by Dark Point Games. It's an epic Survivors-like adventure set during Roman times and is a roguelike spin-off release based on Achilles: Legends Untold. This time around, the focus is on bullet hell-style gameplay that has players face and survive against countless hordes of enemy monsters. 

Similar to its contemporaries like Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor or Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok, Achilles: Survivor serves up non-stop action with multiple characters to choose from. Players will also get to explore and experience ancient Greece through various unique locations and landscapes. 

Back into the fold 

Achilles: Legends Untold is an action RPG adventure that takes place in ancient Greece when gladiators face off against monsters in Souls-like combat. Here comes Achilles: Survivor, a spin-off game that takes a different approach to gameplay and is inspired by the burgeoning Survivors-like genre. You will be thrust into the hellish landscape of ancient Greece to battle hordes of monsters once more. 

There are multiple characters to choose from in this game, each with their own unique set of skills, which you can boost each time you level up. Unlock new abilities and collect treasures from expeditions that you can equip for future runs. The game offers large maps, each with multiple unique biomes to explore and thousands of enemies to defeat as you venture across ancient Greece. 

Moreover, the game incorporates a unique building mechanic into the gameplay that lets you build structures on the spot that provide support, such as healing, power boosts, and additional defense against enemies. However, a potential drawback is that while characters have distinct abilities, the differences in playstyle often feel minimal. Hence, switching between them doesn’t significantly change how the game plays, which can make the experience feel repetitive over time.

What’s new in update 0.6

Update 0.6 brings some exciting new content to Achilles: Survivor, starting with the Mountain Fortress—a fiery new realm set inside a volcano. It includes five handcrafted areas filled with molten lava, tough enemies, and powerful new bosses. A new survivor also joins the roster: Phalanx, a fast and venomous spider that’s deadly in every encounter.

If you’re short on time, the new Short Run mode lets you play a full run in just 10 minutes, and it’s available in all realms. You can also now switch freely between easy, normal, and hard difficulties anytime you want. Several new bosses and midbosses have been added, too, including Talos, Agamemnon, Stone Golem, and Fire Plant.

Another major addition is Seal the Rift, a new challenge mode where you must stop endless waves of enemies from escaping the rift. The update also includes plenty of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, all based on player feedback. It’s a strong step forward for the game and shows the devs are listening and improving with every patch.

A nice spin-off
