Zombies Ate My Friends is played in 2D, meaning you look at characters and surroundings from the side. By swiping your finger, you can look from side to side, and by pressing the screen, you can enter a building. Turn-based battles mean that after you attack a zombie, the zombie can counter, but a tap on the screen is all it takes to kill enemies. With each attack, your energy bar empties, although with power-ups you can recharge it. You can also buy more energy with real money. Unfortunately, the touch controls used to move the characters is really disjointed, and you can rarely get any real flow in the game.

With a 2D side view, Zombies Ate My Friends looks similar to other side-scrollers. The characters are cute and you can customize their appearance, and the game environment and buildings are pretty and full of detail. The music is good too.
