An epic journey with a captivating story
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a role-playing game by Monolith Soft. It’s an emotionally rich adventure that captures the essence of traditional JRPG storytelling and stands out as one of the most memorable epic journeys in the history of its genre. It’s the second main entry in the Xenoblade Chronicles series.
With Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s compelling story and deep character development, players are immersed in the game’s narrative while enjoying its intuitive combat that features real-time systems built on timing, positioning, and executing various combo chains. The game is available on consoles for those wanting to dive into this heroic adventure.
Explore the world of Alrest
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is set in the land of Alrest, a world inhabited by massive creatures known as Titans. The story follows a young salvager named Rex, who meets Pyra, a powerful being known as a Blade. The narrative definitely draws you in and doesn’t bore you to death, since the theme is a mix of humor and seriousness. It also has a heavy emphasis on character development.
While it’s a narrative-heavy journey, it still features real-time action combat, utilizing various skills to pull off combos against your foes. You also have a party with you to help you out in battle by executing commands that blend well with your character’s abilities. Although sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s going on during fights, since damage meters and other interface clutter are consistently popping out on your screen.
The menus for skill trees and items are also a bit of a nuance, as there’s just too much navigation when hovering between them. The FPS (frames per second) of the game also dips in busy zones, so expect a bit of sluggish gameplay when traveling through those. On the bright side, these mishaps are easily ignorable as the amount of content to dive into definitely outweighs the negatives.
An RPG worth playing
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 offers a solid role-playing game experience, complete with a rewarding character progression and a polished combat system. The world is also beautiful, charming, and visually appealing — something you can easily get lost in while exploring. Despite some rough edges in terms of performance, it’s still a worthy title to pick up, due to its memorable story and cast.
