WPD CarbonTracer is a free utility and tool application available for iPhone users. Developed by Western Power Distribution West Midlands PLC in collaboration with the Carbon Trust and Enigma Interactive, this app provides real-time data on energy generation in parts of the East and West Midlands, South Wales, and the South West supplied by Western Power Distribution.

The app calculates the local energy sources powering electric devices in users' homes, including solar PV installations, wind farms, and various generators. It distinguishes between renewable and non-renewable sources, highlighting the carbon dioxide emissions associated with each. WPD CarbonTracer reflects the dynamic nature of electricity demand and generation, illustrating the mix of sources contributing to the grid.
