Hand-drawn side-scrolling adventure game
Wormster Dash has been created from nothing more than hand-drawn sketches. Therefore, it provides a rather unique and personalized touch that is not always possible with modern graphics. Wormster Dash combines challenging environments with a decidedly retro flavor that is similar to other games, such as Cuphead and Lep's World.
The main character is placed within a series of side-scrolling environments. The single goal is to outrun a large worm that lurks just off-screen. Users will emerge victorious when they arrive at the end of the game and use their character to depress a pressure plate.
Intricate levels with plenty of surprises
At first glance, it would be difficult to tell that this game was created by pen and ink. This is due to intricate elements present within the levels themselves. Examples include collapsing bridges, conveyor belts, molten cauldrons, and hydraulic presses. Thus, players will have to remain on their toes at all times.
Quick-witted and strategic gameplay
The primary goal of Wormster Dash is to make it to the end of the game as quickly as possible in order to avoid a large carnivorous worm. However, there are several ways in which this can be accomplished.
The actions of players will, therefore, determine their completion times. Wormster Dash contains no checkpoints. In the event that the character is caught by the worm, the game will reset to the very beginning.
A skill-based platform
Completing Wormster Dash is no easy feat, thanks to the numerous challenging levels. The fact that a menacing worm is never far off provides an additional air of excitement.
Deceptively difficult and uniquely entertaining
Notwithstanding the fact that Wormster Dash was drawn by hand, its straightforward gameplay is actually quite stimulating. Anyone who already enjoys fun side-scrolling games like Platypus should give this bundle a closer look.
Pros
- Impressively detailed hand-drawn graphics
- Ideal for those who enjoy difficult side-scrolling challenges
Cons
- Some may find a single objective rather boring
