Wordle is a free mobile word game developed by  FatCat Studios. The app tests the players' vocabulary by challenging them to find as many words as they can within the given time. However, there are rules that each round has.

Players must note that Wordle is not the word puzzle game that took Twitter by storm. For one, you don't have to guess the word of the day in this game. You are also not limited to five words in each round. That said, this does not mean that the game is less challenging and fun to play. 

How do you play this game?

Wordle combines word searching and word-related games. As noted, the mechanics are simple. In each round, you will be given a set of letter tiles. You will use these letters to find as many words as possible. Building words is simple as it only requires you to swipe the letters up, down, and diagonal. However, each round will have a time limit.

Like the board game Scrabble, each letter tile comes with a corresponding point. With this, every word you create will have a score. Once you reach the needed points to clear the level, you can move on to the next round. As an added challenge, each round will have a letter that you need to use. It could be the first letter or the last.

There are tokens in each round that you can use whenever you get stuck. These include shaking the tiles or getting a hint. Besides English, players can also change the dictionary to French, German, Italian, and Spanish. However, there will be no online competition in the game. And as it is free, expect ads. Although, these ad inserts are not as invasive as other free games.

Should you play it?

Overall, Wordle is a fun casual game you can play to pass the time. The mechanics are relaxed yet straightforward, and the controls are responsive enough. The gameplay is also challenging enough to give your brain an exercise. However, the animations are slow, which makes forming long words difficult. Moreover, you are at the mercy of the app's dictionary. With this, words that are not included will not be accepted.
