WinSSHTerm is a free utility application developed by P-St Software. It is a graphical user interface that allows you to run terminal sessions on computers across your network. This lightweight and easy-to-use app is designed to function for PuTTY and KiTTY.

As it is a user interface, you need to embed KiTTY and/or PuTTY into WinSSHTerm to make it work. It is an extra couple of steps but once done, you will get the convenience of using both programs in a single UI. With this, you will have a secure way of connecting to both SSH clients simultaneously.

What is WinSSHTerm?

PuTTY and KiTTY are both powerful SSH clients that allow users to connect to remote computers. However, the applications are not exactly intuitive. Moreover, they lack helpful features, such as the capability to manage multiple sessions. With this, you need additional utilities to help you manage SSH sessions. One of those is WinSSHTerm. As mentioned, it is a program designed to function as an interface for both SSH clients.

The app makes it easy to open multiple remote sessions on various computers. Not only that, but it also offers support for file transfers and X applications. Once launched and set up, you can take advantage of its features. You can navigate between tabs using simple keyboard shortcuts. You can also organize all your connections into folders. It is even possible to open multiple sessions in one window.

Of course, given that the app is only a user interface, you should have the SSH clients installed on your machine. You also have to embed them into WinSSHTerm to get the functionality of both programs in one UI.  However, as it is only an interface and commonly used to access remote computers through SSH, the app may not be suitable for working on a local machine.

While you can use KiTTY and PuTTy independently, having WinSSHTerm makes the work easier. It allows you to manage multiple sessions simultaneously and access both SSH clients in one UI. Moreover, it offers useful features, like support for file transfer and X applications. The app is also novice-friendly and comes with a minimalistic interface. Although, it is not a true terminal emulator and may not work on your local machine.
