Window Tidy is a piece of software designed for Mac OS X operating systems that allows users to organize and prioritize open application windows. If you’ve ever had several applications running at once, you know how difficult is can be to switch between and view them easily. With Window Tidy, that problem is solved by dragging and dropping windows into an already established layout.

See All Your Windows at Once

When Mac launched the Mission Control function on its computers, it seemed to address the long-standing issue of not seeing all open windows at once. It only scratched the surface, however, and where Mission Control ends, Window Tidy picks up the slack. It lets users customize the overview and windows can be simply dragged and dropped right into place. Users can design layouts however they please based on which windows require top priority. Grids can be resized and there’s no limit to the amount of layouts you can create.

Out With the Old, In With the New

As of January 2017, Window Tidy has been retired and replaced with Mosaic, a similar tool from the same company that lets users manage and monitor their windows. Though it has been officially retired, it will still receive support in the near future for bug fixes and critical updates only. For users interested in this style of window management, Mosaic offers a fresh take on the same idea, written with brand new code.
