Fantasy horror adventure game for PC
Westwich Castle is a free adventure title by an indie developer who goes by Gemezl. In this first-person horror game, players take on the role of a captive prisoner, and they are tasked with escaping a mysterious castle while avoiding any danger and pitfall that may come upon them.
Much like Evil Nun: The Broken Mask or Madison, Westwich Castle boasts nice graphics and slick visuals that are combined with impressive sound design for an immersive experience. The controls are also pretty straightforward, so players can dive in right away without worrying about complicated tutorials and the like.
Prison escape
Westwich Castle takes place in a fantasy medieval setting wherein you find yourself waking up and trapped inside a dark abandoned castle. Equipped with nothing but a lantern, you go about exploring in search of a way out. However, you will soon realize that you are not actually alone as an evil presence is constantly roaming about and getting ever closer to you.
The controls in the game are simple to learn, with your WASD keys for movement and your mouse for looking around. Switch between your Shift, Alt, and Ctrl keys for sprinting, walking, and crouching. Tap on E to be able to interact with various items and objects you'll encounter along the way, and F to light up your surroundings using your lantern.
What's more, this horror game requires plenty of puzzle-solving in order to progress through certain areas and unravel secret doors or passageways. All that being said, though, the gameplay is rather short. Depending on your pace and how you play, you're looking at a runtime just shy of an hour to finish the entire game. Aside from that, everything else is pretty good from the get-go.
Get out alive
Setting aside the matter of short runtimes, Westwich Castle offers a pretty interesting game with its dark and atmospheric presentation combined with challenging puzzles, all while avoiding an evil pursuer is a compelling proposition for fans of horror games. While the experience won't last for long, it's still worth having all the same. Go and play it now. Recommended.
