Water Power is a screen-tapping game that takes inspiration from the most basic tycoon games from the late 90s onwards. The aim of this simulation game is to make money by creating hydroelectric power with water wheels. You can make more in-game money in order to upgrade your setup, allowing you to make more money even faster.

The graphics are not that dissimilar to the first Slime Rancher, except without its glossy finish. The gameplay is remarkably similar to the idle screen-tapping game known as Idle Miner Simulator. Even the upgrade systems are eerily similar.

Getting paid for energy

You start this idle tycoon game with a very small power station and a wooden water wheel. The generator will slowly create money, but you can tap the generator to create more.

As you earn money, you upgrade your power station, the water wheel, and the water dam so that it lets out more water. You may also build more power stations.

Upgrading as you go

If you upgrade the dam, then it costs more each time, but each upgrade releases more water, which improves the earning potential of your power stations.

Upgrading your wheel helps it turn faster and make more money. Improving the station with things like better staff and better wiring will also help improve your earning potential.

A gentle progression curve

The game allows you to progress at a gentle rate. It doesn't start out very quickly, plus it then slows down to encourage micro-transactions. As you progress through the game, there is actually more to do than there is during the beginning of the game.

Needs a little more nuance

The upgrade system in this casual game is what lets it down. Even though they are all named different things, they all do the same thing, which removes any elements of tactical upgrades. It makes the gameplay more mindless than it should be.
