WakeUp is an iPhone/iPod/iPad app that allows you to remotely wake up your computer via the local network or the internet. The app also lets you sleep and shutdown your computer, but this feature is only available for Windows and requires the installation of the WakeUp Server. The app automatically detects computers on the local network, and you can add as many computers as you want. You can even group the computers for one-touch wake. WakeUp supports LAN broadcast/DNS/IP address, SecureOn, and iCloud sync. The app is available in six languages: English, Italian, German, Chinese, Spanish, and French.

WakeUp is perfect for powering on a computer remotely and then using VNC to view files or streaming files from your computer. However, Wake on LAN requires that the iPad/iPhone/iPod be connected to the same network as the computer, and the computer must be connected to the router via an ethernet cable. The network cards must support Magic Packets, and the computer must be configured correctly. To use Wake over Internet, the network must be reachable via the internet, and the router and firewall must be configured correctly for forwarding Magic Packets. Note that the router must be capable of forwarding Magic Packets to turned-off computers.
