Vtks Chalk 79, by Douglas Vitkauskas of Vtks Design, is a decorative font that recreates chalk handwriting for print and digital projects. It renders a heavy, distressed chalk-on-blackboard texture with irregular hand-drawn edges and ships as a TrueType file for broad application support. The face preserves a tactile, scratched look at larger sizes. Common uses include restaurant menus, classroom materials, and social media graphics.

What does the font do?

the font reproduces the visual qualities of chalk handwriting, focusing on display and headline roles rather than body text. Its heavy, eroded strokes and organic letter edges give a hand-crafted appearance suited to themed layouts. Designers apply it for projects that require a classroom, vintage, or DIY tone, especially where short, attention-grabbing lines and signage must read like chalk on a board.

How much can you customize its appearance?

As a static typeface, the visual outcome depends on glyph design and layout treatment rather than runtime sliders. The draw shows high-detail erosion and irregular outlines that retain a chalky texture even at large sizes, so control comes from point size, tracking, and layered effects in the layout program. Character coverage is limited for some international accents and advanced symbols, which affects multilingual use.

Is it easy to install and use across applications?

Installation follows a standard font workflow: extract the ZIP, then right-click the .ttf and select Install to add it to the system library. The font is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux and works inside desktop design and office applications that accept custom fonts. Web projects can embed it via There are no background processes or runtime components to run.

A popular, practical choice with licensing to check

The font is a practical option for designers and educators seeking a recognizably chalkboard aesthetic; its long community presence and more than 240,000 downloads on DaFont indicate wide adoption. A commercial license is required for business use from the official Vtks Design site, so confirm licensing terms before deploying the face in client work or product packaging.
