Vannya is a free mobile app from the Indian Ocean Foundation that aims to empower people with the knowledge about marine ecosystems and help them better understand and protect them. 

Why Vannya?

• All the information provided in Vannya is a result of several years of hard work by a dedicated team of researchers, who collected a huge amount of data about the Indian Ocean ecosystem. 
• The data collected in the Vannya app has been used to create an interactive map that provides a graphical representation of the Indian Ocean ecosystem, including the oceans, seas, and islands. 
• The app also provides information about the habitats of the Indian Ocean ecosystem, which helps the user to know in which habitat the species can be found. 
• In addition, Vannya provides the user with information about the distribution of the species in the Indian subcontinent, including Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. 
• The user can also choose the nomenclature he or she prefers, from amongst the three most widely recognized: IOC, Clement's, and eBird. This selected nomenclature preferred by the user will be used on the app. In addition, the other two will also be mentioned, along with a list of other alternate common names of the bird. 
• The user can also choose the habitat in which the bird can be found. 
• The user can also add comments on individual species.
• The user can also choose to keep notes on every species.
