The chance for an additional effect is calculated with a base chance and the difference between the attacker and defender's athletic skill.

You can choose between different weapons, each of which has its own unique effects. For example, you can choose between a sword, a mace, a dagger, and a bow. You can also see the effects when you land a kick.
