It reworks the AI of the enemy in the game, making it more unpredictable and making the game even more challenging. Basically, the mod increases the titular Alien’s range for its different activities.

When the original isn’t hard enough

Unpredictable Alien mod. complicates an already challenging AI experience. When Alien: Isolation was released, one of its strengths was its use of AI for a terrifying Alien experience. It forces the player to use the environment to maintain stealth and stay away from the creature, which responds to different stimuli instead of the traditional line of sight. It can hunt you by sound or sight, or other disturbances you cause.

As mentioned, the mod changes the existing AI script. It basically extends the Alien’s range, allowing it to detect and investigate on a much larger scale. Also, compared to the original game, it’s now a lot harder to shake off the Alien once it gets on your tail. By changing the stalking range and behavior, it makes the game more unsettling for the player.

Since it only reworks the AI script, this mod can be deployed even to games in progress. You can just turn the AI unpredictable at any point. Unfortunately, the developer of the mod doesn’t push through with the same treatment in Nightmare mode, which upsets the difficulty scaling. Additionally, there are dead spots in the game, where the Alien doesn’t respond despite the player making any kind of noise.

The vanilla version was already frightening and challenging, but having the Unpredictable Alien mod. makes the entire experience even more rewarding. For players who enjoyed the original, spice up your experience with this add-on. The best part about this mod is that it works with saved games, letting you turn the Alien difficulty up at any point in the game. Recommended.
