Ultratron, a 2D top-down twin-stick shooter game, is set in a fictional universe and inspired by Robotron: 2084. The player controls a robot and explores different locations, with no restrictions to go forward or backward. The game has a traditional gameplay style, where the left stick aims, and the right stick sets the direction of fire. The robot can use firearms, explosives, and other throwables that are available. Customization of the robot takes place between levels, where upgrades are found on the battlefield and can improve the robot's shields, smart bombs, and droid power.

Ultratron has a total of forty levels, with every fifth level being an assault level, where the enemies are more aggressive and challenging. Every tenth level is a boss level, and the objective of each level is to eliminate all enemies and reach the end of the location. The game features bullet hell elements where the enemies on-screen form a distinct pattern that is recognizable as a picture. The game is set in a near post-apocalyptic future, where human brains are implanted into war robots that fight to defend humans from their dreadful fate.
