The UGC NET Exam is conducted by the National Educational Testing Bureau (NETB) of the University of Gujarat. UGC NET is a test conducted in India for the purpose of admission to the teaching profession. It is a national-level exam to determine eligibility for lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. UGC NET is a subject-based test.

There are two tests conducted in India, one for the purpose of admission to the teaching profession and the other for the purpose of Junior Research Fellowship.

The test is conducted in five subjects: Humanities, Social Sciences, Philosophy, Psychology, and Economics. The examiners assess the students with regard to their knowledge and understanding of the concepts in the subjects.
