Tupapa English is an Android app developed by Gisborne District Council that provides a comprehensive and interactive experience for those interested in the history of Turanganui-a-Kiwa. The app allows users to follow the Tupapa heritage trail in Gisborne or from home, discovering the stories of this place from the perspectives of the tangata whenua (original inhabitants of the land) Ngati Oneone, Ngai Tamanuhiri, Rongowhakaata, and Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki.

The app offers a series of videos, guided tours, animated graphic novels, historic photographs, and illustrations that depict places, people, and taonga (treasures) of local significance. Users can access the app in both English and Maori language versions. A trail map is also available to help users navigate through the landmarks that have shaped this place from the first settlement by Maori more than 700 years ago, through the arrival of Captain Cook, and then the first European settlers.
