Truth Social is a free social and communication app launched by former US President Donald Trump. This app offers a new alternative to popular social media platforms that Trump banned in the past. However, as of this writing, users need to sign up for the waitlist. 

Truth Social offers a similar experience to other social networking apps, such as Facebook and Twitter. Here, you can create a profile, share your thoughts, see what other users post, and build a following. The app only re-branded the names of the features.    

What is Truth Social?

Its developer dubbed Truth Social as America's Big Tent social media, a new way to describe inclusivity. It means users of different beliefs can enjoy freedom on this platform. Whether you are a die-hard liberal, a proud libertarian, or a staunch conservative, you can share your opinions without the fear of being banned from the app. You can have an honest conversation with other users without being discriminated against.   

The app allows you to express your personality through your profile. Here, you can add your avatar and background. You can also build a connection with other users by following them or having them follow you back. Aside from sharing your thoughts, you can also read others' through a Truth Feed. The posts in your feed are brought to life with the help of thumbnail photos, links, and more.   

Truth Social features a search function, enabling you to search for people, organizations, and news outlets that interest you. Moreover, you can stay engaged with people by activating your notifications. However, as mentioned, the app requires you to waitlist yourself before you can start creating an account. You can do so by filling out the form posted on Trump's website.    

Should you download it?

All in all, Truth Social is yet another social media alternative. The app offers just about everything that other microblogging platforms offer. With this, the experience remains essentially the same, although it promises to give users complete freedom when sharing their thoughts, particularly regarding their political ideology. However, as it is relatively new, the community you can engage with is much smaller.
