Truco Venezolano is a popular multiplayer card game from Venezuela. In this game, the cards are dealt one at a time to each player, and the first player to reach a pre-agreed number of points wins the game.

It is played with 40 cards without eights, nines, or jokers. There are 3 cards in each hand and a card is turned over at the end of the round. The one with the highest card wins the hand and the hand with the best of 3 hands wins the round and the points that it is worth depending on the number of “cantos”, “toques” or “gritos” that have been agreed.

The game starts with all players facing down. The dealer turns over one card at a time until all players have been dealt 3 cards. The round begins when the dealer has turned over all cards. Each player is given a chance to turn over a card, starting with the dealer. The players can only turn over cards that are higher than the previous one.

The cards in the same suit are not taken into account. The highest card wins the hand. If the highest card is a 9, 10, or 11, the player wins 1 point for the hand, if the highest card is a queen or king, the player wins 2 points for the hand and if the highest card is a 7, the player wins 3 points for the hand.

The player is given a chance to call “Cuenta” or “Grito”. If the player calls “Cuenta”, the player gets to take another card from the pile that is face-up.
