Trolley Problem Inc. is a narrative-based game that features elements of dark comedy as it seeks to test the morals of the user through a series of impossible choices. The player must choose between two awful answers, each with moral implications and stakes that involve people's lives. The game is largely text-driven but does involve graphical elements.

The comedic tone of this game can be likened to that of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, though the themes being discussed may not be for everyone. The developers state that the game is approximately a two-hour experience.

Tackle impossible problems

Trolley Problem Inc. forces the player to answer “impossible” questions, where the result of their answer is going to be bad, regardless of which they choose. The game is also suffused with dark comedy in the form of narration. The problems presented to the player are based on real-world philosophical papers.

The trolley problem

The title of the game comes from the trolley problem, where a trolley bus is heading toward a group of people. The person solving the problem can save them by diverting the bus, but they condemn a single person to death in doing so. Neither outcome is desirable, but the person involved must pick one of them.

A short game that may not be for everyone

The developers of Trolley Problem, Inc. state that the game is roughly a two-hour experience, making it quite short. The themes and humor may not be ideal for players sensitive to unsavory topics, but for those who enjoy dark humor and psychological games, Trolley Problem, Inc. should be an interesting experience.
