Triangle Strategy is a premium strategy game for PC made by Square Enix. It is a story-driven 2D RPG that boasts tactical turn-based combat. It is set in a fantasy world wherein every action and decision that players make has an effect on how the narrative unfolds.

Coming from the same developer as BRAVELY DEFAULT II and Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy shares the same distinct art style that seamlessly blends 2D and 3D to create a unique look and presentation. Together with an intriguing story, it serves up an experience that fans of the genre will like and enjoy.

Three-way deadlock

Triangle Strategy takes place in the war-torn fantasy continent of Norzella. The land is engulfed in a war over natural salt and iron resources among the Holy State of Hyzante, the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost, and the forested Kingdom of Glenbook. You play as Serenoa Wolffort, a royal member of Glenbook, who becomes embroiled in the political backlash between the aforementioned factions, and whose actions will have unforeseen repercussions.

The story in, to put it simply, is a slow burn that permeates with every decision you make. Hence, begins your political adventure filled with deceit and manipulation across all levels of the kingdom. Makes decisions based on three major pillars, namely Utility, Morality, and Liberty. The story will unravel in different ways depending on your actions and how you decide to deal with events.

The turn-based gameplay is expectedly high-quality as you choose from a roster of characters with unique abilities for a small but highly skilled squad. Interact with them at your Encampment, equip them with gear from the Sundry Shop, and test their skills in Mental Mock Battles. For such a narrative-driven game, though, the pacing is poor and feels like it's dragging its feet at times.

The characters are unique and contribute to skirmishes in their own way, and the way your decisions affect the story does add a sense of immersion.
