A deep and detailed railway experience

Train Simulator Classic remains one of the most established railway simulations available, offering extensive experience shaped by more than 15 years of development. Created by Dovetail Games for railway enthusiasts, this premium game combines authentic trains, realistic routes, operational systems, and varied driving experiences across several countries.

Train Simulator Classic covers three railway environments and more than 400 kilometers of recreated track, giving players plenty of scenery and operations to explore. Whether hauling freight through demanding American terrain, operating German services, or carrying passengers toward London, each route provides its own atmosphere, challenges, and character.

Offers impressive features

One of Train Simulator Classic’s biggest strengths is its impressive selection of officially licensed locomotives and rolling stock. In this game, British services feature several Southeastern and Southern electric multiple units, including the Class 465, 375, 395, and 377. Germany offers Deutsche Bahn's BR111 and BR189, while American operations include Norfolk Southern SD40-2 and GP35 locomotives, accompanied by appropriate freight equipment.

Authenticity extends beyond the appearance of trains. Players must manage realistic braking systems, signaling, safety procedures, and locomotive controls while dealing with changing weather conditions. The included 25 career scenarios provide structured objectives and different operational situations. For players who prefer freedom over scheduled tasks, Quick Drive makes it possible to select a preferred train and route without committing to a career scenario.

Also, its dedicated Editor allows players to construct routes, scenarios, and railway environments, turning the simulation into more than a collection of predefined journeys. Steam Workshop support expands this further by providing access to thousands of community-created additions. The result is an ecosystem where players can experiment, share projects, and continually discover new railway experiences. However, realistic signaling, braking systems, safety procedures, and locomotive controls can be overwhelming for beginners.

An authentic and comprehensive railway simulation

Train Simulator Classic succeeds by combining scale, authenticity, and creativity into a comprehensive railway simulation. Its detailed real-world routes, licensed trains, operational complexity, career scenarios, free-driving option, and powerful creation tools provide substantial content for both newcomers and dedicated rail enthusiasts. While its depth may require patience to master, that learning curve is part of its appeal, making every completed journey feel genuinely rewarding.
