Packed with stunning visuals and mostly automated gameplay, Tower of God: Great Journey is a free role-playing game adaptation of the adventure webtoon of the same name. It features well-loved characters from the series and you can obtain them via the gacha mechanic of the game.

In Tower of God: Great Journey, you can play as Bam or Viole and you have to travel up the mysterious tower to watch the story unfold. Up to four characters can fill a team to beat each level. There are idle aspects to this game as well.

Exciting adventure RPG

Tower of God: Great Journey is an action-packed RPG that employs graphics from the webtoon of the same name. The cutscenes are crafted with so much detail although they aren’t thoroughly animated—the visuals are just moving on the screen like GIFs, but they convey the emotions of each scene perfectly. The character splashes are stunning, too, making them worthy collectibles.

As for the gameplay, players unfamiliar with RPGs will probably find the mechanics confusing. Affinities with characters encountered can be established to achieve Fate Skills, which are skills of non-obtained characters that can be used by the player’s party because of their bond with that said character. All party members share the same level and equipment, too, although there is an elemental chart you have to take note of.

However, what makes this game easier than its counterparts are the simple controls and the automated gameplay. You have to move your team across the screen to eliminate the enemies, or you can activate the auto-battle feature to let the system do the work for you. Although, the latter may get tiresome over time, as you will stop gaming and instead spectate as the game plays itself without your help.

Is it worth it?

In a nutshell, Tower of God: Great Journey is an exciting adaptation of the webtoon. It features the characters fans know and love while reimagining the universe in a more interactive way. Some aspects may be tricky to learn, though. At the same time, the auto-battle feature may be a double-edged sword as while it makes the game easy, it also takes away the “gaming” from the players.
