Most of their games deviate from the bullet hell shooter genre which is associated with the original Touhou Project series. They focus on integrating roguelike, dungeon crawling RPG to their fan games. AQUASTYLE also produce soundtrack albums from the Touhou Project series.

A Popular Indie Franchise In The Late 90s

Touhou Genso Wanderer -Reloaded- is a departure from its bullet hell shooter genre. It still retains the lore and world of the original series from the 90s. Set in the mystical world of Gensokyo, players assume the role of fan-favorite Touhou characters. They can play as Reimu Hakurei the shrine maiden, as well as some of the supporting cast like Marisa Kirisame the mage, Inubashiri Momiji the white wolf tengu, Mononobe no Futo the hermit, Aya Shameimaru the crow tengu, Sanae Kochiya the modern-day shrine maiden, Flandre Scarlet the vampire and her time-manipulating maid Sakuya Izayoi. The story begins when Reimu took shelter from a heavy rain to the antique shop Kourindo. Its owner Rinnosuke Morichika becomes intoxicated with the power of the Golden Spheres and he attacks Reimu. Rinnosuke then summons replicas of the Gensokyo denizens and erects the Awaritium Tower. Reimu narrowly escapes but decides to investigate the said tower and bring back Rinnosuke from his senses. The main objective of the game is to claim the Golden Spheres to save Gensokyo.

Easy To Learn, Hard To Master

The RPG game is designed to cater both casual and pros. Beginners can easily grasp the game mechanics while pros can challenge themselves with the game’s advanced options. The gameplay is reminiscent with the more popular Mystery Dungeon series. Players traverse in an ever-changing, randomly generated dungeons similar to Binding of Isaac, except they move in tiles. They can navigate themselves with the large and detailed minimap. Each dungeon is different from the previous one, making the game new and interesting. Along the way, they will meet allies, confront enemies and loot items that can improve their strength. There are collectible weapons, armors, and items that will aid players when facing tough bosses. The only terrifying twist for this game genre is that when players get a game over, they drop everything they possess and they have to go back to the bottom of the tower.
