Touchdown Hero is a free sports game for mobile from developer BoomPick Games. It is a top-down runner with an American football theme. In it, players will attempt a touchdown while evading tackles and other obstacles in the field that will do everything to stop them from scoring.

Compared to other football games like Madden NFL 22 Mobile Football or Football Head Coach 23, Touchdown Hero is a more condensed and singular experience about scoring a touchdown. It also employs charming pixel art and graphics that lead the game to a more casual and playful presentation and gameplay.

Running down the field

American Football is a full-contact sport that involves a lot of physicality and risk. One wrong turn or if you're not fast enough could result in a tackle by members of the opposing team. It's this exhilarating feeling of rush and excitement that the game, Touchdown Hero, is trying to capture. In it, you lead your team to victory with quick reflexes and speedy runs.

Touchdown Hero has a simplistic approach compared to other games. You won't bother much with formations and intricate plays and instead will focus on speed and agility for a touchdown. Use fakes and spins to avoid tackles, and use slow-motion to identify gaps in defenses as you reach for the goal. Take into consideration the different opponent types, as well as field and weather conditions as you play.

There are multiple teams and players who you can upgrade with gear, boosters, and power-ups to gain a better advantage. The whole experience is complemented by simple and intuitive controls. With all of that being said, though, its simplicity becomes its weakness. The gameplay becomes repetitive after a while, with no other game modes to choose from to change things up a bit.

Running and more running

To sum up, while it's easy to get into and serves plenty of fun, Touchdown Hero is a rather one-dimensional experience that gets dull fairly quickly. Additional game modes would have made the gameplay much more interesting and replayable. Nevertheless, if you're just after some quick and simple gaming on the go, this game is still worth checking out and enjoying.
