The storyline brings together a mix of familiar and new characters, each with their own motives and secrets. A secondary plot involves Agnès' search for a mysterious item called the eighth Genesis, adding further intrigue. 

Gameplay builds on the mechanics of its predecessor. It features a seamless transition between different types of battles, with new combat techniques like Cross Charge and EX Chains. These mechanics allow players to perform powerful combo attacks, adding a strategic layer to the combat system. Cross Charge lets players swap in a party member to execute a special attack after a perfect dodge. 

EX Chains trigger simultaneous attacks from multiple characters during command battles. The game's structure is non-linear, allowing players to choose the order in which they complete chapters. Each chapter focuses on different characters and their unique skills, such as hacking or stealth, providing a diverse gameplay experience. However, the combat mechanics in the entirety of the game and strategies can be challenging to master.
