The Church in the Darkness is a top-down infiltration game where you are tasked with making your way into what may be a cult in a distant South American forest. Find out if your nephew is a happy church member or a prisoner in an evil cult. The game changes depending upon how you play and interact with the other villagers.

Play a different way each time you try the game

The Church in the Darkness allows you to alter the way you play so that your gameplay experience changes each time you play. The game changes depending upon how much of in impact you make on the villagers. If you run in and start killing, then the game becomes more action orientated and the villagers become more polarized. If you make very little impact, then making friends is easier and it is easier to convince people to join you and turn away from the people talking over the PA system. The graphics are not retro, but they are very basic because there is very little modeling and texturing, which makes it look like an indie game; the developers are under funded indie developers.

A nice take on the infiltration genre

The way the villagers interact with you in The Church in the Darkness is similar to the sort of thing you may experience when you play Deus-Ex. The weapons you use are very underpowered, but so are the villager’s weapons, so it evens out. The game really rewards you for stealthy kills and stealthy takedowns. If the graphics were a little more modern, then this game wouldn’t rival Deus-Ex or Thief, but it would become a very notable stealth-infiltration game that would hopefully receive upgrades and sequels in the near future.
