In India, in general, public health and hygiene are a challenge, especially in schools, where toilets, drinking water, and bathing areas may be inadequately maintained and clean. In fact, the most important of the SVP objectives is to ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of schools. The SVP aims to improve hygiene and cleanliness in schools by rewarding good hygiene and cleanliness practice. These practices include: Ensuring that toilets are clean; Ensuring that water sources and drinking water dispensers are cleaned, disinfected, and are fit for use; Ensuring that hand hygiene is maintained; Ensuring that handwashing facilities are clean; Ensuring that teachers and students do not have COVID-19 symptoms; Promoting health education among students and teachers; Promoting appropriate behaviour. The SVP is based on IT-enabled assessment of WASH infrastructure, hygienic practices, and COVID-19 appropriate behavior.
