The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) is an autonomous government institution in India. The main objective of the institute is to develop and train a skilled workforce to assist the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in implementing the National Solar Mission and to conduct research and build innovative technology related to solar energy. The institute is also providing free services to the public, such as education, employment, training, and research.

This skill development program is a flagship program under the "Make in India" initiative of the Indian government. The program aims to train 100,000 people in the field of solar energy by 2020. To achieve this objective, the institute has proposed a number of training programs, which include:
