Sura Nur is a Madani sura in the Qur'an, with many chapters. Al-Nur (Noor) means Light, which is one of the names of God in the Qur'an. This Surah, or chapter, contains a number of verses, and many rulings. There are rulings in this chapter about marriage, divorce, slander, libel, accusation, and a number of other issues. These rulings are mentioned in a very beautiful way.

In Sura Nur many events are mentioned, as well as what is considered to be the most important: the blessings of recitation of the sura. These blessings include that it is among the rights of a daughter upon her father to teach her Sura al-Nur. In the narration, it is mentioned that the father is required to teach the child Sura al-Nur in his voice. There is also a narration that indicates that whatever is recited in this surah, or chapter, God will give to the reciter rewards ten times more than the number of all men and women believers in the past and in the future.
