Suddenly*Lover is a premium simulation game, released to celebrate SMEE’s 10th anniversary. This is a full HD rerelease of the 2017 Making*Lovers. As such, enjoy a larger display with higher resolutions of up to 1920x1080. This visual novel (VN) explores how love can bloom after casual dating, with five female protagonists to build a relationship with.

With Suddenly*Lover, you enjoy a unique entry in the VN subgenre, with unique routes for each heroine. However, playthroughs are short and the game has no English localization. You can also try Needy Streamer Overload or Doki Doki Literature Club!

A fun rom-com sim experience

At its core, Suddenly*Lover can be classified as a slice-of-life romantic-comedy visual novel. You are introduced to the main character told by his parents to go out and find a girlfriend. This light intro sets the pace as you explore one of the five dateable heroines. The characters fit into common dating sim stereotypes, but the scriptwriting and the interactions make all routes equally engaging. 

This release lets you play the original story plus two prologues included in the Suddenly*Lovers Super Sweet After Story update. Also, as mentioned, this scales up the display support up to 1920x1080. With its Steam release, players also receive over 50 Steam Achievements to unlock. However, similar to the original game, most of the mature content has been removed in this version.

For a visual novel with good writing, the short playthroughs can be a major setback for invested fans. You can go through all five routes in a considerably shorter time than other full-length VNs. Another key issue in the game is that it has no English localization. You only get to choose between Japanese and Chinese languages in the game.
