Substitutions is a Chrome add-on developed by rhyneav that aims to make reading the news more entertaining. This free program replaces certain words found in news articles with humorous alternatives inspired by XKCD's comics.

With Substitutions, words like "witnesses" become "these dudes I know," "allegedly" becomes "kinda probably," and "new study" becomes "Tumblr post." Other substitutions include "rebuild" for "avenge," "space" for "spaaace," and "google glass" for "virtual boy." The add-on also replaces words like "smartphone" with "pokedex," "electric" with "atomic," and "senator" with "elf-lord."

Substitutions provides a lighthearted twist to news articles, making reading more enjoyable and adding a touch of humor. It can be a fun way to spice up your daily news consumption and inject some XKCD-inspired entertainment into your browsing experience.
