The spotted dove (Spilopelia chinensis) is a small and somewhat long-tailed pigeon which is a common resident breeding bird across its native range in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It was formerly included in the genus Streptopelia with other turtle-doves, but studies suggest that it differs from typical members of that genus. 

It is a very similar species to the common pigeon, but has a longer and more pointed head with a distinct neck-print. It is a very light-colored bird with a very long, broad and very curved wings. The coloration is very similar to the color of the common pigeon, but it has a more yellowish tint and less black.

The spotted dove has a very loud and deep voice that is similar to the sound that a crow makes. The calls are mostly heard in the morning and evening.

The spotted dove has a very short life span.
