Sound Meter - Measure Noise in Decibels is a free Android application developed by BeshevGames that measures the sound volume in decibels in your surroundings. This noise meter and analyzer app (dB meter) references the current dB sound level to a known loudness of some common noises. The app has a nice analogue dial with an arrow that points to the current decibel sound level, and it also has three displays showing the minimum, average and maximum volume of the sound in decibels that the app has measured. Additionally, it has a real-time graph that shows the current and previous sound and noise level in decibels. The app features nice graphics, both analogue and digital sound readings, minimum, average and maximum measured noise in decibels and a real-time graph showing the measured sound values. However, the microphone in mobile phones is designed to capture sound at a specific maximum level of decibels, so for most devices, readings above 80 dB will not be possible. A calibration may be needed for some devices to get the best results.
