Although this utility requires users to obtain the base game via Steam, for Sonic enthusiasts, it offers an enriched experience that merges the best aspects of both titles.

Free from console limitations, the mod supports unlimited resolutions, high-quality texture filtering, and smooth 60 FPS gameplay, provided your hardware can handle it. This is a significant improvement over the original game, where certain stages suffered from performance issues. An overall improvement

The Sonic Generations Unleashed Project add-on includes eight meticulously adapted Modern Sonic stages from the original Sonic Unleashed game. These stages are not just direct ports; they feature numerous layout improvements, recreated gimmicks, and bug fixes. The result is a seamless integration of Sonic Unleashed's vibrant levels into Sonic Generations, making full use of the latter's superior control scheme and graphical capabilities. 

The mod also introduces a classic linear progression system. This allows players to start a new game without overwriting their existing save files, facilitating the collection of Red Rings and setting new high scores and time records. The new Red Ring locations also add an extra layer of challenge, with S Ranks demanding optimized speedrunning. Additionally, it enhances the visual fidelity by supporting special effects like directional shadows, light shafts, and improved motion blur. 

All of the aforementioned features, while optional, are highly recommended to maximize the visual experience. Additionally, it removes some of the less enjoyable aspects of the base game such as the mandatory RPG components, medal collection, and the Werehog levels. However, it's worth noting that the mod has not been updated for a considerable amount of time. Consequently, certain bugs and issues remain unresolved, which can occasionally detract from the otherwise stellar experience.
