Each time the game is started, the dealer will deal out a standard playing board with the number of cards already dealt, in descending numerical value order from ace to king, queen, or jack. The first person to place all cards of the same suit in the first row of the tableau (the "tableau" or "hand") scores that many points. If no one has a completed hand at the end of the game, the game ends with no points for that game. You do not receive any points for the cards you don't have in your hand. You can score more points by "trumping" other players' cards (i.e. by placing a higher-ranking card on top of one that has already been placed on the tableau).
