Slava Russian Dictionary is a free Chrome extension developed by agattiker. As an add-on in the Browsers category, this program aims to enhance the reading experience of Russian texts by adding accents to Russian words and providing English definitions through a pop-up feature.

To utilize the extension, simply visit a webpage with Russian text and click on the owl icon in the toolbar. This action will mark accents on Russian words, indicating the vocal stress position. For example, the word "предложение" will be converted to "предложе́ние".

Once the owl icon is clicked, hovering the mouse over any Russian word will trigger a pop-up displaying the English definition of the word. The pop-up includes various information such as the word's base form, accent, word class, grammar, key grammatical forms, and even definition and example sentences. Clicking on the word base will lead to the full Wiktionary entry with etymology, declension, and other relevant information.

It is important to note that the extension needs to be manually activated for each tab where you want it to run. This can be done by clicking on the owl icon in the toolbar. Additionally, in cases where there are multiple possibilities for accenting a word, the extension marks all potential accents, leaving it to the reader to infer the correct pronunciation from the context.

Slava Russian Dictionary is a non-commercial, open-source project without any ads or hidden features. It respects user privacy by not recording or sending any information to external servers. The extension only calls the Wiktionary public API to retrieve word definitions for display in the pop-up.
