Slappyball is a free-to-play sports title for PC developed by Amelore. It is a volleyball game that utilizes a unique physics-based gameplay mechanic wherein players will take control of actual hands as they play. It features a career mode and multiple online PVP match types.

Just like with Hand Simulator: Survival or Hand Physics Lab, Slappyball places emphasis and focus on actual hands in its core gameplay. Where the former goes for realism and immersion, though the latter is more on the comical and playful side of things when it comes to presentation.

Is it worth playing?

Slappyball is a physics-based volleyball game where you take control of oversized anthropomorphic hands instead of actual human characters. Matches are done in 3v3 fare than the standard 6v6 players. You can also hit the ball any number of times, as well as using tricks like bouncing them off walls. There's even a point circle on each side worth three points if a shot lands on them.

Slappyball's controls are fairly straightforward. You have normal, set, slap, and diving hits in your arsenal of shots available to you. Meanwhile, you can double jump, air dive, lean back, or perform a soft stop in the way of movement. In terms of game modes, you can choose among Exhibition playing against AI, Freeplay to create custom matches, or Online to play with other players.

Lastly, the game features various customization options that let you personalize your hands with multiple colors, outfits, accessories, and many more. However, it has its fair share of connectivity issues. Also, considering it's still in Early Access and is incomplete, it already is pushing out microtransactions all over the place. This, on top of a Premium version that it is already offering, makes all of it a rather questionable move.

A slap on the face

In summary, Slappyball seemed like a funny and quirky volleyball-themed sports game that you could enjoy playing with friends. In reality, though, it cannot mask the fact that it's an unfinished game employing some rather questionable business practices right from the get-go. There are better, more polished games out there for you to consider rather than this title.
